About

About Us...

The Ethical Predator was built around a simple belief:

How you hunt matters.

Not just the result. Not just the animal on the ground. The process matters. The preparation, the patience, the discipline, the decisions made before the shot, and the respect shown after it.

I was raised in Ontario, Canada, in a family where fly fishing, tracking, bushcraft, and traditional archery were part of everyday life. My grandfather taught me to pay attention to the details in the woods. My father taught me that if I wanted to learn how to hunt, I needed to pick up a bow and go hunting.

So I did.

I chased grouse, pheasant, rabbits, ducks, geese, and eventually the whitetail deer which I had dreamed about since I was young. I missed. I lost arrows. I made mistakes. I learned that becoming a bowhunter was not a product I could buy or a shortcut I could take. It was a process of development, failure, patience, and direct experience.

That process still guides everything we do here.

More Than Merchandise

The Ethical Predator shop is where we share the things that represent this way of life.

You will find t-shirts, hoodies, hats, tumblers, mugs, and other goods made for people who believe traditional bowhunting is about more than equipment. It is about how you carry yourself in the field and how you choose to live away from it.

Every item is connected to the same principles:

  • Ethics over shortcuts
  • Discipline over ego
  • Process over outcome
  • Skill over dependence on gear
  • Tradition as something you practice, not just something you talk about

Learn, Practice, and Stay Connected

The shop is also the home base for everything we are building around traditional bowhunting.

From here, you can find links to our bookstore, where we share books about traditional archery, bowhunting, ethics, and the path that connects us to the woods.

You can also join our free traditional bowhunting community. It is a place for people who want to learn, ask questions, share their progress, and spend more time developing real skills instead of chasing the next shortcut.

For those looking for deeper instruction, our Learn section connects you to free and paid training. This includes practical guidance for traditional archery, instinctive shooting, preparation, pressure, and the mental side of becoming a more capable bowhunter.

Why The Ethical Predator?

The name is meant to create a question.

A predator must be capable, observant, patient, and prepared. But an ethical predator also understands restraint. Not every opportunity should be taken. Not every shot should be released. Sometimes the right decision is to let the animal walk.

That is part of the responsibility we accept when we choose to hunt.

Traditional bowhunting brings you close. It asks more from you. It exposes weaknesses in your preparation and gives you the opportunity to work on them. It teaches you to slow down, pay attention, and accept that failure is part of learning.

The goal is not to make hunting easy.

The goal is to become the kind of person who is prepared for the opportunity when it comes.

Walk the Process With Us

Whether you are new to traditional bowhunting, making the transition from a compound bow, returning to the woods after time away, or continuing a path you began years ago, you are welcome here.

Take a look around the shop. Read the books. Join the community. Explore the training.

Keep shooting. Keep learning. Keep paying attention.

No shortcuts. No ego. Just process and discipline.

How you hunt matters.

Hunter-Owned. Independent.

Plenty of brands are run by large, faceless companies. We chose a different path: independent, built around a code, and guided by real values.

I’m the founder, and I started The Ethical Predator for hunters who take the responsibility seriously: those who hunt with purpose, act with integrity, and honor the animals they pursue. Everything we make is meant to carry that philosophy into the field and back home.

Thanks for being here.
